Matica Srpska Library in short

• It has been the central (parent) library for the Province of Vojvodina since 1948.
• It has the research center for citations of Serbian scientific workers in international scientific journals.

• It is the first library in Serbia with over 1 million bibliographic units in electronic catalogue.
• It has 7 reading rooms and 5.000 library members annually.
• Restoration, conservation, microfilming, and digitization are done in the Library.
•  The Library publishes catalogues, bibliographies, news, books about bibliology, and other editions.

• The Library is situated in the Matica Srpska building, as well as in the new wing (opened in 2007).

• The Matica Srpska Library is the oldest Serbian national library.
• It is the first public and scientific library of the Serbs.
• It was founded in 1826 in Budapest, together with the foundation of the Matica Srpska Literary Society.
• The Library was opened to the public in Tekelijanum on August 14/26th, 1838.
• It has received the sample copy of all publications printed in Serbia since 1948. 
• The Library became an independent institution in 1958 and its founder was the Matica Srpska Literary Society.
