Selimir Radulović ‒ Biography
Selimir Radulović (Cetinje, 1953) published thirteen books of poetry: Poslednji dani (The Last Days) (1986), San o praznini (A Dream About the Void) (1993), U sjenku ulazim, oče (The Shadow I Enter, Father) (1995), О tajni rizničara svih suza (About the Secret of the Treasurer of All Tears) (2005), Snovi svetog putnika (Dreams of the Holy Traveller) (2009), Pod kišom suza s Patmosa (Under a Shower of Tears from Patmos) (2012), O pastiru i kamenu sa sedam očiju (About a Shepherd and a Stone with Seven Eyes) (2015), Senka osmog eona (Shadow of the Eighth Eon) (2016, 2018), Dvanaest (Twelve) (2018), O dukatu s likom starca (About the Ducat with the Old Man’s Face) (2020), U carstvu vetrova aramejskih (In the Realm of the Aramean Winds) (2022), Zapis na stubu, jerusalimskom (Inscription on a Jerusalem pillar) (2023); books of selected poems: Po licu noći (Over the Face of the Night) (1996, 1997), Knjiga očeva (The Book of Fathers) (2004), Gde Bogu se nadah (Where I Was Hoping to Find God) (2006), Izveštaj iz zemlje živih (Report from the Land of the Living) (2009), Svetlo iz očeve kolibe (The light from my father’s hut) (2011) and books of selected and new poems: S visa sunčanog, strašnog (From a Peak Sunny, Dreadful) (1999), Kao mirni i svetli vesnik (Like a Messenger, Peaceful and Bright) (2008), Pesma sa ostrva siročadi (A Poem from the Island of Orphans) (2010), Dah male molitve (Little Prayer’s Breath) (2017), Ispovest tumača carevog sna (Confession of the Interpreter of the Emperor’s Dream) (2019), Sedam malih drhtaja (Seven Little Tremors) (2021).
His selected works (Izabrana dela, I-V) (2013) were published by two Serbian publishers Srpska književna zadruga and Pravoslavna reč. Also, his selected works (Izabrana dela, I-VII) (2023) were published by the Archives of Vojvodina and publisher Laguna.
He authored a book of literary criticism Povoj i članci (Linkers and Articles) (1987), a book of essays Svetlo iz očeve kolibe (The Light from My Father’s Hut) (2015), Gle! Jagnje Božje! (Look! The Lamb of God!) (2020), Ono malo soli (A Little Salt) (2020), a monograph on Saint Sava co-authored by Dr Irinej, Bishop of Bačka, and five anthologies/chrestomathies. Anthology Zlatni vek srpskog pesništva (The Golden Age of Serbian Poetry) imala je tri izdanja (2010, 2019, and 2022).
There are two collections of works dedicated to his poetry: Pesnik nokturna (A Poet of Nocturne) (1995) and Svetlo iz očeve kolibe (The Light from My Father’s Hut) (2015). In the A special issue of the magazine Nova misao dedicated to the literary work of Selimir Radulović and titled Svetlo iz očeve kolibe (The Light from My Father’s Hut) was published in November 2022.
Two books have been published on his work: Lako jezgro pesništva (Light Poetry Heart) (2015) authored by Slobodan Žunjić and Za svetlom iz očeve kolibe (Following the Light from My Father’s Hut) (2018) authored by Saša Radojčić.
The Čigoja publishing house published in 2017 a book of interviews with Selimir Radulović by Miloš Jevtić titled Očevo lice knjige (Book Has Father’s Face) within the collection Odgovori (Answers).
Books of his selected poems were published in Macedonian (Светлина од очевата колиба, 2016), Russian (Свет иных пространств, 2017), Greek (Φως απο την καλυβα του πατερα, 2017), German (Der Hauch des kleinen Gebets, 2018), English (The Light from My Father’s Hut, 2021), and Slovak (Svetlo z otcovej koliby, 2022).
For his literary work he received the following awards: Novembarska povelja Novog Sada (November Charter of the City of Novi Sad), Iskra kulture (Cultural Sparkle), Pečat varoši sremskokarlovačke (Stamp of the Town of Sremski Karlovci), Kočićevo pero (Kočić’s Quill), the award of the Spring Fair in Banjaluka; the awards named after Teodor Pavlović (for lifetime achievement), Vuk Karadžić, Miodrag Đukić, Simo Matavulj, Đura Jakšić, Despotess Angelina Branković, Laza Kostić, Stevan Pešić, Milan Bogdanović, Đura Daničić, Filip Višnjić, Branko Ćopić, Dušan Vasiljev, Marko Miljanov, Meša Selimović, Janko Šafarik, and Miroslav Antić; the Morava Charter Award, the Writers’ Association of Vojvodina Book of the Year Award, The Jug of the Kosovo Girl Award, Tesla’s Dove Award, Medal of Constantine the Philosopher Award, Slovene Union from the Czech Republic Award, Lifetime Achievement Award of the Cultural Center of Vojvodina “Miloš Crnjanski”, Matica Srpska Zmaj Award, Golden Medal for Merits awarded by the President of the Republic, Order of Saint Despot Stefan Lazarević, Order of the Holy Synod of the Serbian Orthodox Church, Charter for Lifetime Achievement of the Writers’ Association of Serbia, Seal of Herceg Šćepan, Premio internazionale d’eccellenza Citta del Galateo Award (Italy), Saint Sava Golden Coin of the Serbian National Council of Montenegro Award, Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts Award, Association of Writers of Montenegro Award, Saint Stefan Štiljanović Award, Charter of Poetry Fires of Zlatibor, Golden Knight Award (Russia).
He is a Director of the Matica Srpska Library. He lives in Novi Sad.
